DPT – Possessory Interest – Michael Krueger – 4 CEH

The Possessory Interest workshop provides students with the history of the valuation of possessory interests in the State of Colorado through case law.  The student also receives information regarding statutory requirements along with approved procedures for the discovery and valuation of possessory interests.  In addition, crucial to this workshop are implementation and administration procedures regarding this specialized type of property.

Upon completion of the course, this course will:

  • Make students aware of the legal history of taxation of possessory interest in the State of Colorado.
  • Provide procedures to assist county assessors in the valuation of possessory interest properties for ad valorem taxation.
  • Encourage intercounty communication and sharing of information on possessory interest.
  • Promote statewide property tax equalization through the use of similar methodology.
